Beyond Creative Studio was born from a quiet, unwavering belief: creativity is not just something we do—it’s something we live. It is a language for healing when words fall short, a bridge to belonging when we feel between worlds, and a way to honour the stories we carry in our bodies, memories, and hands.

I’m Surien—mixed-media artist, writer, and creative guide—and my work is deeply shaped by place and layered identity. Influenced by the wide, grounding Prairie landscapes of Canada and my South African heritage, my practice lives in the space between cultures, histories, and homes. I’m drawn to texture, process, and materials that hold memory—because so much of who we are is shaped by what we’ve touched, lost, carried, and returned to.

Beyond Creative Studio exists for women who feel the pull to create with intention. For those who are tired of perfection, productivity, and performance—and who are craving something slower, more honest, and more meaningful. This is a space for the Wandering Creative Soul: women who feel deeply, who gather stories and places, who may feel at home everywhere and nowhere, and who are longing to reconnect with themselves through creative expression.

Here, art is not about being “good enough.”

It’s about being true.

Through painting, collage, writing, classes, and guided creative experiences, I invite you to explore creativity as a form of listening rather than output. A place where messy layers, unfinished edges, and quiet moments are welcome. A place where art becomes a companion, not a performance.

Whether you arrive through a workshop, an online class, a piece of art, or a shared moment of reflection, my role is simple: to hold space. To offer gentle guidance, thoughtful prompts, and permission to create without needing all the answers first.
